Quality Care for Youth

Peace of mind for parents!

Youth Program Parents

In light of the challenges brought on by COVID 19, the Youth Program is excited to announce our plans for Fall programming!

Plans are in place for both the School Age Program (Kindergarten-5th grade) and the Open Recreation Program (6th-12th grade).

For those students in Kindergarten - 5th grade, the School Age Program can provide 48 daily full-day (0615-1800) slots for families choosing the Virtual Learning Academy & 12 After-School (1430-1800) slots for those choosing in-person learning.

For those students in grades 6-12, Open Recreation could provide 15 slots in the “Barksdale Strong Start School Camp” (0700-1430) and Open Recreation (1430-1800)

A couple program changes from previous years:

  • Parents, not Youth Center staff, are responsible for ensuring youth complete their school work.  An agreement to this effect will be signed by the parents.
  • Youth sports and instructional programs are not being offered at this time due to social distancing requirements
  • No before-school care and transportation to/from school will  be provided by the center at this time.  Once public health restrictions are lifted, we will be able to offer transportation and before school care

  • Fun - safe, exciting & educational age appropriate activities
  • Before & After School-during the school year, we pick up & drop off at Bossier Schools
  • Homework help & Tutoring is available
  • Volunteer & Scholarship opportunities
  • Sports Programs
  • Instructional Programs - skill development & hands-on learning
  • Educational Programs focus on character building and leadership
  • Recreational activities entertain and offer new experiences
  • Peace of Mind -knowing that children are safe, secure & engaged
