Barksdale Key Spouse Program

Helpful information for Key Spouses

Key Spouses are appointed by the Unit Commander to serve as a vital communication link between the unit and its families.  Key Spouses serve as a peer-to-peer support system and provide information and referral assistance to other spouses.  Being a Key Spouse provides an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of Barksdale families.  Those interested in volunteering as a Key Spouse should contact their First Sergeant or Commander.  

The Airman & Family Readiness Center provides a 6-hour orientation for newly appointed Key Spouses. For Key Spouse Information and the updated Key Spouse Guides, go to:  





Initial Training: 

5 March

18 May

13 August

8:30 am–3:30 pm at A&FRC.  Appointment letter required to attend training.


Mentor and Refresher Training: 

Will be offered as needed.  Please call 456-8400 for dates and times.


Continuing Education Training:

26 February

23 April

23 July

22 October 

6 pm–7 pm at A&FRC.  Quarterly on the 4th Tuesday of the month
